Top Performances from Front Range in Week Four of Winter

Teams

Boulder Girls Basketball:

The Boulder Panthers (5-7) had a strong showing last week, defeating Mountain Range and Fairview. Their game against Mountain Range was particularly dramatic, as they rallied in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime. Lexi Oder stood out with a standout performance, which is discussed in more detail below.

Broomfield Boys Wrestling:

The Broomfield Eagles showcased their strength at the Top of the Rockies wrestling tournament, placing ninth among 41 teams. The team achieved three top-five finishes, narrowly missing out on a higher ranking. They were just half a point behind 3A No. 2 Eaton, while 5A No. 2 Grandview edged out No. 1 Pomona for the team title.

Broomfield Girls Swimming:

The Broomfield Eagles dominated the 16-team Dick Hewson Invitational, securing a significant victory over second-place Cherokee Trail by 259 points.

Erie Boys Wrestling:

The Erie Tigers tied for 10th place at the Top of the Rockies tournament, finishing 9.5 points behind Broomfield. Their performance was supported by three top-six finishes.

Erie Girls Basketball:

The Erie Tigers (8-3) started their season strong with wins against Holy Family and Monarch, giving them a 3-0 record in the 6A/5A/4A Granite Peaks League.

Fairview Boys Basketball:

The Fairview Knights (8-4, 2-1 GPL) extended their winning streak to four games after victories over Niwot and Boulder. Trevor Ochs played a key role, combining for 27 points, 14 rebounds, and nine assists.

Frederick Boys Basketball:

The Frederick Golden Eagles (9-4, 4-0 GPL) remained undefeated in league play after winning home games against Broomfield and Mead. Dante Lechuga contributed significantly, scoring 21 points in a close 62-59 win over Broomfield.

Holy Family Boys Basketball:

The Holy Family Tigers (11-0, 3-0 GPL) continued their unbeaten streak, defeating Erie, Mullen, and Silver Creek. They are currently ranked second in the 4A classification and will face reigning league champion Horizon on Tuesday.

Legacy Boys Basketball:

The Legacy Lightning (5-6) have been on a roll, winning four of their last five games. They defeated Skyline and Fort Collins, with Jack Hergenreter scoring 21 points against the Falcons and Jaedon Ward adding 24 points against the Lambkins.

Niwot Girls Swimming:

The Niwot Cougars ended Silver Creek’s long-standing dominance at the St. Vrain Invite, winning by a margin of 141 points. Kyrie Moorman led the way with two individual event wins.

Athletes

Levi Carlucci, Monarch Boys Wrestling:

The junior finished second at 165 pounds at the Top of the Rockies tournament.

Madi Clark, Mead Girls Basketball:

She scored 42 points across two wins, including 25 points and eight rebounds in a 64-41 victory over Frederick.

Addison Esping, Broomfield Girls Basketball:

The sophomore combined for 31 points on 12-of-24 shooting in two wins, along with 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

Brynn Murray, Frederick Girls Swimming:

She won the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.11) and 200 individual medley (2:21.45) at the St. Vrain Invite.

Tyler Muir, Erie Boys Wrestling:

The senior placed second at 175 pounds at the Top of the Rockies tournament.

Lexi Oder, Boulder Girls Basketball:

She tallied 50 points across two wins, including 30 points in a double-overtime win over rival Fairview.

Garrett Owen, Erie Boys Basketball:

He scored 38 points on 12-of-22 shooting in two games, averaging 18.8 points per game this season.

Nicholas Penfold, Broomfield Boys Wrestling:

Penfold took second at 157 pounds at the Top of the Rockies tournament.

Luke Schmeeckle, Silver Creek Boys Basketball:

The senior scored 50 points in two games, raising his average to 23.1 points per game this season.

Olivia Soto, Fairview Girls Basketball:

She totaled 48 points, six 3-pointers, and 13 assists in three games, averaging 13 points and 4.5 assists per game.
