After a tough loss in Chicago and a crushing defeat at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia has found its rhythm, winning three consecutive games ahead of their Monday night matchup against the Nuggets.

Saturday night’s game was one of the team’s most impressive performances of the season. The Sixers opened up a lead in the second quarter, avoided their usual third-quarter slump, and sealed the victory in crunch time with a 130-119 win. This marks their second win in New York this season, and it’s clear that the league should take a closer look at what Philadelphia has when all its pieces are in place.

Tyrese Maxey: A Star in the Making

Tyrese Maxey put on a show with 36 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and 4 turnovers. His performance continues to build a case for First-Team All-NBA honors. Maxey outplayed a Second-Team All-NBA player, Jalen Brunson, twice in a short span. While he received more open looks due to a strong supporting cast, his ability to hit six threes on nine attempts is rare. He also made some difficult shots, including a midrange stepback in the fourth quarter that left Brunson in the dust.

Maxey’s defensive impact was equally impressive. He made several splash plays, including one that led to an easy transition bucket. His ability to make any shot he wants has grown significantly, and he’s now a positive force on both ends of the court. VJ Edgecombe: A Rookie Who Shines Under Pressure

VJ Edgecombe delivered a stellar performance with 26 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocks, and 2 turnovers. The rookie proved that the bright lights of New York don’t faze him. He has been outstanding in both wins in Manhattan, showcasing two-way play and clutch performances that are rare for a player with fewer than 30 NBA games under his belt.

Edgecombe did an excellent job defending Jalen Brunson, limiting his effectiveness despite Brunson’s 31-point game. Only two personal fouls in substantial minutes against such a skilled guard is a remarkable achievement. On the offensive end, he was efficient, shooting 7-of-10 from the field in the first half for 18 points. In the final minutes, he showed poise, blocking a Mikal Bridges three-pointer, stealing an inbounds pass, and making a highlight-reel dunk after faking a pass in the lane. Edgecombe is a true winner.

Joel Embiid: Efficient and Dominant

Joel Embiid had a strong performance with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 turnovers. He helped silence the opposing crowd at Madison Square Garden with an efficient night, shooting 9-of-15 from the field and 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. Embiid baited Mitchell Robinson into foul trouble, keeping the Knicks’ starting center on the bench for much of the first half. Robinson finished with just 19 minutes of play.

Embiid didn’t force the issue, instead playing within the flow of the offense. He set screens to free up teammates, made nice passes to open cutters, and even recorded his first dunk of the season to cap off his night. His presence was a key factor in the team’s success.
