Travis Kelce’s Potential Final Game in the NFL

Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs have arrived in Las Vegas for what could be his final game in the NFL. The speculation surrounding Kelce’s future has intensified since it became clear that the Chiefs would not make the playoffs this season. At 36 years old, the tight end is set to play his final game of the season on Sunday when the Chiefs face Tom Brady’s Raiders in a game that many consider a “dead rubber.”

Kelce was spotted stepping off the team’s private flight on Saturday afternoon as the Chiefs finalized their preparations for the game in Sin City. He was seen carrying two bags down the plane steps, dressed casually in a black co-ord with a khaki sweater. With his sunglasses on, Kelce gave very little away as he walked to a bus waiting for the team on the tarmac while listening to music.

Kelce has spent his entire career with the Chiefs after being drafted in 2013. During that time, he has won three Super Bowls and established himself as one of the best tight ends in the history of the game. This season alone, he has racked up 839 yards and five touchdowns, despite the Chiefs’ struggles and failure to make the playoffs.

His contract with the Chiefs expires at the end of the season, and many believe this will be the end of his NFL journey. Instead, it is expected that he will use this as an opportunity to retire and focus on his personal life, particularly with Taylor Swift. The couple is reportedly set to tie the knot on June 13 at the luxurious Ocean House in Rhode Island, close to Swift’s property in the northeastern United States.

It’s possible that Swift will give the clearest indication yet of her future husband’s plans this weekend. She hasn’t been to a road game since the Chiefs won in the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills in January 2024. If she has made the trip to Las Vegas for a dead rubber game, it would likely only be because it is the last time Kelce will be on the field.

Kelce has kept his plans close to his chest regarding the future. He has stated that he will make a decision once the season is over and after having discussions with the Chiefs, as well as his friends and family. However, he has also mentioned that he wouldn’t want to play for any other team in the NFL besides the Chiefs.

After the Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans back in February, Kelce looked on the verge of retiring. However, he ultimately decided that he didn’t want to quit the game on such a low note.

In an emotionally-charged interview with fellow franchise legend Tony Gonzalez on Christmas Day, Kelce spoke about the retirement rumors. “I think I’m still searching for those answers,” he said when pressed on his looming decision. “Obviously the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for myself.”

However, the three-time Super Bowl winner did not fully close the door on the possibility of returning for one more season. “Just the fact that when I know it’s over, it’s over,” he added when Gonzalez questioned what he would be returning for. “I still have a lot of love for this game. If I came back, it would be just to answer that flame in my heart for this thing.”

As the season comes to a close, fans and analysts alike are watching closely to see whether Kelce will hang up his cleats or take one more shot at the NFL. Will this be the end of an era for the Chiefs’ star player? Only time will tell.
