The New York Mets are in dire need of upgrades in both starting pitching and outfield depth. With the free agent market offering limited long-term value, the team would be wise to explore the trade market for impactful additions. Here are two potential trades that could significantly bolster the roster.

1. Acquiring Freddy Peralta from the Milwaukee Brewers

Freddy Peralta is a prime candidate for the Mets to target. As a key component of the Brewers’ rotation, Peralta is set to enter the final year of his contract in 2026, making him a more attractive trade target than many top free agents who are seeking long-term deals. The Mets should consider waiting until next offseason to sign Peralta or another elite pitcher like Tarik Skubal, rather than committing to players such as Framber Valdez or Zac Gallen.
