The Road to the Super Bowl

The journey to the Super Bowl is a grueling one, with 32 teams competing over 18 weeks and over 42,000 plays. It’s not just about making it to the big game; it’s about giving everything you have in that final showdown. This year, the Seattle Seahawks, led by quarterback Sam Darnold, will face off against the New England Patriots, who are led by second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Both teams have taken very different paths to reach this point, and each has its own set of challenges and strengths.

Seattle’s Journey to the Super Bowl

At the start of the season, the Seahawks were ranked anywhere from 16th to 22nd, depending on the source. No one expected them to make it this far. However, Sam Darnold has been a key factor in their success. After a difficult stint with the New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings, Darnold has completely turned his career around. During the regular season, he threw for 4,048 yards (5th in the NFL), 25 touchdowns (tied for 9th), and 14 interceptions (third-worst among starters with 10 or more games). His QBR was 55.7 (19th), which wasn’t great, but it’s clear that he’s improved significantly.

Darnold had only played one playoff game before this season, which was last year against the Los Angeles Rams, where he struggled. However, that experience has helped him grow, and this season, he’s been a standout player. But it’s not just about Darnold’s performance; it’s also about the team as a whole.

The Seahawks are averaging 36 points per game while allowing just 16.5 points per game. They rank 6th in overall offense and are one of the most balanced teams in the NFL. While some argue that offense wins championships and others say defense does, having a balance of both could be the key to success. The question remains: will this balance be enough to stop what looks like an unstoppable Drake Maye and New England Patriots team?

Can The Patriots Finish The Job?

Ranked third in the NFL in the regular season for overall offensive rankings, Drake Maye has been an unexpected surprise. One concern about Maye is that he has thrown for more than 300 yards only once all season. However, he did step up in a big way against the Baltimore Ravens, throwing for 380 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception. The Patriots won that game 28-24, showing that Maye can perform under pressure.

The Patriots rank 8th in the NFL in scoring at 27.2 ppg, but their recent performance has been inconsistent. In their last three games, they’ve averaged just 18 points, with a lowly 10 points in their last game against the Denver Broncos. Two weeks earlier, they beat the Chargers 16-3. These numbers might not be enough to beat the high-scoring Seahawks team.

Despite these concerns, there are a few facts about Maye that could give fans hope in his ability to compete in a shootout:

And The Champions Are?

This might be the hardest game I’ve had to call all season. Both teams have their positives and negatives. You have two great storylines: Can the young quarterback Drake Maye revive the greatest NFL dynasty of all time? Or will the greatness of Sam Darnold finally be recognized?

Darnold has had a long journey, fighting through bad teams, injuries, and more, yet he continued to improve. Sometimes destiny is just waiting for you to grow into it.

The calling for these two is undeniable. This could be one of the greatest Super Bowls of the last 20 years, and I wholeheartedly believe that.
