The quarterback change was the main talking point heading into the game, but the weather quickly became the focal point after a controversial officiating call. As the teams returned for the third quarter following halftime, a sudden snowstorm swept through the stadium, nearly obscuring the CBS cameras from capturing the action.

“I can’t recall the conditions changing this quickly in a game of this magnitude,” said CBS analyst Tony Romo. The weather changed rapidly, and much of the broadcast focused on the speed at which the conditions deteriorated.

Snow began falling at Mile High and quickly accumulated on the field. The heavy snowfall made it difficult for the CBS cameras to capture the game, leading fans to take to social media to express their frustrations. Many pointed out that the Patriots were wearing all-white uniforms for the game, which proved problematic in the blizzard.

“It’s really unfortunate that the Patriots are wearing white now,” one user wrote. Another commented: “Those white uniforms the Patriots are wearing, can’t be good in this much snow. Much easier to see an orange jersey downfield.”

“Patriots with the strategic white uniforms,” quipped another fan. One user suggested the white uniforms were a tactical move, adding: “Advantage Patriots now cos no one can see their white outfits…”

Romo and play-by-play caller Jim Nantz discussed the weather and its impact on the game, suggesting that the white uniforms were a disadvantage for the Patriots offense — making it difficult for Drake Maye to spot his receivers in the snow.

Defensively, however, it could be a different story. The Broncos are wearing orange, which makes their players easier to see, while the Patriots’ white uniforms meant the New England defense could make plays and stops, as Stidham struggled to identify his targets.

“Patriots wearing all white might be a good thing? Maybe idk,” added another fan. Others were stunned by the Pats’ efforts, holding on to win and advance to the Super Bowl despite the barely visible uniforms.

“GO PATRIOTS!!! They’re the team in lighter colored, white, uniforms .. barely discernible through the blizzard .. and if they hold things together for another 2 minutes, IT’S OFF TO THE SUPER BOWL!!” wrote one delighted fan.

Another posted: “Can’t even see those white unis & the Patriots are still gonna pull this game off!”

The Patriots eventually claimed a 10-7 win, booking a spot in the Super Bowl.
