Pete Golding and the Ole Miss Rebels have taken significant steps to rebuild their roster for the 2026 season. The coaching staff in Oxford is focused on reloading after a notable College Football Playoff appearance, and they’ve already made some major moves in the Transfer Portal.

Once the NCAA Transfer Portal officially opened on January 2, Golding and his team wasted no time in making their first big splash with the commitment of top-five cornerback Jay Crawford. This move marked the beginning of a wave of additions that would significantly strengthen the Rebels’ roster.

Ole Miss quickly gained momentum by securing several high-impact players who are expected to make an immediate difference as the new era under Golding begins in the Magnolia State. After just two weeks, the Rebels now hold the No. 3 rated Transfer Portal Class, according to 247Sports, with multiple game-changing additions heading to Oxford.

Top Signees

No. 1: QB Deuce Knight – Top Signee

Deuce Knight, a former five-star quarterback, has joined the Ole Miss program as one of its most significant additions. He ranks among the top-10 quarterbacks in the NCAA Transfer Portal, and the Rebels have secured his future at the position after a visit.

Knight initially signed with Auburn as the No. 5 rated signal-caller in the 2025 Recruiting Cycle. However, after one season with the Tigers, he decided to enter the free agent market. Throughout his prep career, Knight received offers from prestigious programs such as the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, Colorado Buffaloes, and Alabama Crimson Tide, among others.

Now, he’s headed to Oxford, but Knight is just one of several key additions for the Rebels.

No. 2: WR Darrell Gill Jr. – Top Wide Receiver

Darrell Gill Jr. has made the move to the Transfer Portal after spending three seasons with the Syracuse Orange. He has one season of eligibility remaining and has drawn interest from multiple SEC schools.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 190 pounds, Gill was originally an unranked prospect when he signed with Syracuse in the 2023 Recruiting Cycle. However, he has since developed into one of the top wideouts in college football.

In his most recent season with the ACC program, Gill appeared in all 12 games, finishing with 32 catches for 506 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. This marks the second consecutive season where he surpassed the 500-yard mark, following a 570-yard performance as a sophomore.

No. 3: CB Jay Crawford – Top Signee on Defense

Jay Crawford, a transfer from Auburn, checks in as the No. 4 rated cornerback in the market. The Rebels acted quickly to secure his services after bringing him in for a visit on Saturday.

Crawford, standing at 5-foot-11 and weighing 180 pounds, had a strong sophomore campaign with the Tigers, recording four pass breakups and an interception along with 13 total tackles. Over two seasons, he totaled 11 passes defended and two interceptions, becoming a vital part of the defensive backfield.

He started in 18 games during his time at Auburn, earning accolades such as SEC All-Freshman and On3 True Freshman All-American honors, mainly during his freshman year.
