A New Chapter for Nehemiah Chandler

A former Georgia Tech player is making a move back to the ACC, but not before spending a season at South Alabama. Defensive back Nehemiah Chandler has committed to Florida State after having a standout season with the South Alabama Jaguars.

Chandler began his college career at Georgia Tech in 2024. However, he only played in one game before transferring out following the season. He then found a new home at South Alabama, where he quickly became an every-down starter. Over 11 games with the Jaguars, Chandler made a significant impact in the secondary.

This season, Chandler recorded 32 tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss. He also intercepted two passes and broke up 13 more, showcasing his ability to track down the football in the air and make crucial plays. These skills are exactly what Florida State will be looking for as he transitions back into ACC competition. Although Chandler is moving up in terms of competition level, he brings a lot of hype with him.

As a recruit, Nehemiah Chandler was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,104 overall recruit in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. He was also ranked as the No. 119 cornerback in the class and the No. 148 overall player in the state of Florida, coming from Quinoy (FL) Robert F Munroe Day.

Duce Robinson’s Return

In addition to Chandler’s commitment, Florida State received some major news with the return of star pass-catcher Duce Robinson. While Chandler will help strengthen the roster through the transfer portal, Robinson will remain on the team, marking a significant retention.

Robinson is expected to earn over $1 million in 2026, according to Sportify’s Pete Nakos. This season, he led the team with 56 catches for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns. He announced his decision to return on Thursday in a video posted to Florida State’s football’s official X account.

“I’ve always dreamed about being a Florida State Seminole,” Robinson said. “I dreamed about the war chant at Doak Campbell Stadium. I dreamed about Osceola and Renegade throwing that spear in the ground. I just dreamed about being able to wear that Seminole head on my jersey week in and week out.”

He continued, “I grew up bleeding garnet and gold. So, now, to be a part of that legacy, it’s something I will absolutely forever cherish. I will forever be a Seminole. This has been one of the best years of my life. What it means to be a Florida State Seminole, what it means to have people surrounding you who truly want the best for you, and I appreciate every single person, every single fan who has supported me, and every single person who’s lifted me up throughout this journey through the good days and the hard days.”
