Nebraska football has seen another member of its defense decide to move on from the program. Dylan Parrott, a defensive lineman, officially entered the transfer portal one day after the portal window opened. Standing at 6-5 and weighing 320 pounds, Parrott is from Eldridge, Iowa, and spent four seasons with the Huskers. He joined the team as a walk-on for the 2022 season and redshirted in his first year. Over the next three seasons, he played in 39 games.

Despite only seeing limited action as a redshirt freshman, Parrott became more involved in the 2024 season, playing in all 13 games. During that season, he recorded two tackles, including his first against Northern Iowa and his second against Indiana. In the following year, 2025, he maintained his participation, playing in all 13 games and totaling four tackles. His contributions included two tackles against Akron and two in the Las Vegas Bowl loss to Utah.

Parrott came to Lincoln as an unranked prospect after playing at North Scott High School in Iowa. He only played football as a senior for the Lancers and chose to walk-on at Nebraska after considering several Division III offers. His story was one of the most inspiring on the roster, as he had to overcome a rare, fast-growing cancer known as Burkitt lymphoma at the age of 10.

Throughout his time at Nebraska, Parrott primarily served as a rotational defensive lineman, often playing behind Elijah Jeudy and Riley Van Poppel. During spring practices, teammate Cam Lenhardt praised the performance of the defensive and nose tackles, including Parrott, as linemen who could “make a leap” following the 2024 season.

Parrott worked under two different defensive line coaches during his time at Nebraska. He first learned under Terrence Knighton before Knighton left for Florida State. He then worked under Terry Bradden for the 2025 season. Bradden was fired after his single season with the program and has yet to be replaced by Matt Rhule and the Huskers. Similarly, Parrott was initially coached under defensive coordinator Tony White before John Butler was hired in December 2024. Butler was later replaced by San Diego State’s defensive coordinator, Rob Aurich.

Parrott joined several other players who have entered the transfer portal this season, including Caden VerMaas, Jamarion Parker, Dylan Raiola, Malcolm Hartzog, Preston Okafor, Maverick Noonan, Marcos Davila, Tristan Alvano, Roger Gradney, Jaylen George, Jason Maciejczak, Braylen Prude, and Rahmir Stewart. He also joined Stewart as one of the Saturday transfers for Nebraska.

The Huskers are continuing their plans for the 2026 season through the single transfer portal window, which closes on January 16. As of Saturday, Nebraska has not yet secured any commitments through the portal.
