A Heartbreaking Update from Alex Vesia’s Wife

The wife of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia has shared a deeply emotional and candid update on their situation following the loss of their baby daughter. This tragic event has left the family in mourning, and the couple has been navigating their grief while trying to maintain some semblance of normalcy.

Last year, Vesia and his wife Kayla revealed that their daughter, Sterling, had passed away on October 26. They explained the pitcher’s absence from his team’s World Series victory, sharing a heartfelt statement that read: “Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th. There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”

Now, three months after the heartbreaking loss, Kayla has returned to social media to express gratitude for the support she and her family have received. In a brutally honest TikTok video, she said: “I don’t have much to say, honestly. Alex and I are just trying to get through it. Every day is so different for us right now.”

She continued, “I am really grateful for the community of you guys and just expressing your support and love toward us. It really has brought us a lot of comfort during this.” Kayla also mentioned her desire to share her journey, stating, “I do want to share my journey. I don’t know how much I’m gonna share. I don’t know the details of it, but I do know that I want to share and if it can help somebody who’s going through the same thing, you know — feel like they’re not alone.”

Kayla emphasized that she would not be coming on the platform to cry, adding, “I don’t want to come on the internet and cry. I don’t think that’s fun for anyone. So I think it’ll be a good outlet to talk and share, different from me and Alex talking and talking with our therapist.” She described it as “a different outlet” and expressed hope that it could help others going through similar experiences.

Kayla had not posted on the platform since November, when she initially shared the heartbreaking news that their daughter had died. Her previous post read: “Our little angel we love you forever & you’re with us always. Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them.”

Their statement came just before the World Series in October, where Vesia was absent from the Dodgers, with the team citing a “deeply personal matter” as the reason. Without Vesia, the Dodgers went on to win one of the most enthralling World Series’ in memory, beating the Blue Jays in Game 7 for their second straight championship.

Vesia is regarded among the best left-armers in the game and was one of the most dependable relievers for the Dodgers across the 2025 season. His absence was felt by the Dodgers during the World Series, even as the team eventually emerged successful.

Both the Dodgers and the Blue Jays wore Vesia’s number, 51, on their caps during baseball’s showpiece event, a move that Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts thanked the Canadian team for. “I think it really speaks to the brotherhood of athletes, Major League Baseball players,” Robers said at the time.

Alex met his wife Kayla in 2019 and they got married in January 2024. She revealed in a 2024 TikTok post that they met after he made the first move and messaged her on Instagram.
