Although the Golden Knights maintained possession of the puck, they failed to convert their chances, and Mads Sogaard remained unbeaten in net. Ottawa added a late goal at 17:50 when Halliday scored, making it 4-0 and sending the Golden Knights into the third period down by four goals.

The Third Period Becomes an Avalanche

The third period started with a devastating blow for the Golden Knights. Dylan Cozens scored again at 1:22, increasing the lead to 5-0. Stephen Halliday added another goal at 2:05, followed by Nick Jensen at 3:56. By the time the period was just four minutes old, Ottawa had turned a difficult night into a rout, leading 7-0.

Vegas finally broke the shutout when Rasmus Andersson scored his first goal as a Golden Knight at 15:05, assisted by Tomas Hertl. However, this goal only slightly dented the damage, as Adin Hill continued to battle through a third period where Ottawa kept generating chances and finishing them.

Ottawa’s six-goal margin matched the worst regular-season loss in Golden Knights history, and it also secured a season-series sweep over the team.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights will travel to Montreal to face the Canadiens on Tuesday, January 27. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PT).

After that, the team will return home for a homestand starting on Thursday, January 29, against the Dallas Stars at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. EST (7 p.m. PT). The Dallas Stars enter the game with a record of 29-14-9, while the Golden Knights are at 25-13-12.

The homestand continues on Saturday, January 31, when the team faces the Seattle Kraken at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST (7 p.m. PT). The Seattle Kraken come into the game with a record of 22-19-9, while the Golden Knights remain at 25-13-12.
