Beats by Dr. Dre, commonly known as Beats, has launched a new marketing campaign that highlights Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani in a series of visually striking images. The campaign showcases Ohtani in iconic locations such as Dodger Stadium and the Santa Monica Pier, emphasizing his deep connection with the city. The visuals were created in collaboration with renowned photographer Daniel Sannwald, who captured Ohtani in a larger-than-life form.

The images feature Ohtani wearing various Beats products, including the Beats Studio Pro, Powerbeats Pro 2, and Powerbeats Fit headphones. These high-end audio devices are designed to deliver an immersive listening experience, aligning with Ohtani’s status as a global sports icon. In a statement, Ohtani shared his thoughts on the campaign:

“Los Angeles is a city of energy, culture, and ambition. Wearing Beats and seeing myself rise above the skyline feels symbolic of the connection I have with this city and our fans. We rise high together.”

Ohtani’s partnership with Beats began in September 2024, just as he was wrapping up his first season with the Dodgers. This collaboration marked a significant milestone for both parties, as Ohtani became one of the brand’s most prominent ambassadors. In February 2025, Ohtani took center stage alongside basketball legend LeBron James and soccer star Lionel Messi in a Beats commercial for the release of their Powerbeats Pro 2 headphones.

“I’m really excited to be part of this campaign with LeBron James and Lionel Messi,” Ohtani said in a statement when the commercial was released. “Tapping into your heart is important whether you’re an athlete on the biggest stage or just getting started. I’m excited to partner with Beats to help deliver that message.”

Beyond Beats, Ohtani has been involved in numerous other marketing ventures. He has worked with brands such as ITO EN’s Green Tea Brand ‘Oi Ocha,’ New Balance, GungHo Online Entertainment (a Japanese mobile gaming company), Seiko (a Japanese watch brand), and Panasonic. His influence extends beyond sports, making him a versatile and sought-after figure in the entertainment and business worlds.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Ohtani has ventured into writing. He co-authored a children’s book titled Decoy Saves Opening Day, set to be released on February 3, 2026. The book features illustrations by Fanny Liem and is published by HarperCollins Publishers. Proceeds from the book will support non-profit animal rescue organizations that help animals find forever homes.

Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko, also established the Shohei Ohtani Family Foundation, which focuses on creating healthier, happier communities. The foundation supports initiatives that encourage children to stay active and live well, while also funding programs that rescue, protect, and care for animals in need.

Ohtani’s impact on the Dodgers extends far beyond the baseball field. When the team signed him to a record-breaking 10-year, $700 million contract, it was not only a major addition to their roster but also a huge boost for the franchise’s business opportunities. In an interview with DodgerBlue.com, Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten noted that even the most optimistic projections for sponsorship revenue fell short of what the organization has actually achieved.

This financial success has allowed the Dodgers to make aggressive moves in free agency, signing players like Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Teoscar Hernández, Tanner Scott, Blake Snell, Edwin Díaz, and Kyle Tucker to lucrative multi-year contracts. As a result, the team has won back-to-back World Series titles and is now aiming to become MLB’s first three-peat champion since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees.
