According to an MLB insider, Joel Reuter (via Bleacher Report), the Tigers remain on the periphery of the Alex Bregman market and could benefit from additional outfield depth. However, if the season started today, this would be a solid lineup without any glaring holes.

It would be unimaginable for anyone other than two-time Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal to start against the Padres on their first day of action. If he does, it will be his third consecutive opening day start for the team.

Key Players for 2026

The Tigers were not known for having big bats, but with the breakout seasons of both Greene and McKinstry, as well as Torkelson and Carpenter being reliable players, things could look different in 2026.

However, the success of the team won’t just depend on established players but also on up-and-coming talents like Keith, Dingler, and Pérez. All three made their Major League debut in 2024 and have shown significant improvement since then.

Colt Keith has maintained a batting average of no less than .260 over his two years with the team. His overall offensive performance has improved, with both his on-base and slugging percentages increasing from 2024 to 2025, giving him a near .750 OPS.

Wenceel Pérez had his best season yet, surpassing double digits in home runs (13) and recording 43 RBIs, both career highs in fewer games played. If he continues improving at this pace, he could become a No. 5 or No. 6 starter in the rotation.

Dillon Dingler secured a Gold Glove Award in his first year as the primary catcher, which was impressive. His swing development shows he is ready for a big year at the plate. He finished 2025 with a .278/.327/.425 batting line, along with 57 RBIs and 13 home runs.

March will be here before we know it, and time will reveal whether this roster is as strong as it currently appears.
