A Thrilling Game with Key Moments and Turning Points

In a highly anticipated match, Grace Campbell of Boston College showcased her exceptional skills by stopping the first 21 shots she faced. However, despite her efforts, the game eventually turned in favor of Colgate, one of the most formidable teams in the ECAC.

With just 28 seconds left in the first period, Emma Pais took a shot that initially looked like it might score. The puck hit both posts, but the referee ruled it as no goal. After a replay review, it was confirmed that the puck had not crossed the goal line, leaving the game tied at zero heading into the second period.

The second period saw a shift in momentum as Colgate began to dominate. A turnover by Colgate led to a Boston College attack through the neutral zone. Sammy Taber was caught offside, but due to a late whistle, she was unaware of the call and fired a shot on Farah Walker. This resulted in a two-minute minor penalty for shooting after the whistle and a ten-minute misconduct for one of the Eagles’ key players.

Although Colgate didn’t capitalize on the power play, they controlled the majority of the second period, finishing with a 17-7 shot advantage. With just under nine minutes remaining, Casey Borgieli took a shot from the blue line that was redirected by Elyssa Biederman, who managed to get the puck past Campbell, giving Colgate a 1-0 lead.

Biederman continued to shine in the second period, scoring again less than four minutes later. She received a stretch pass from Ava Wood and used her speed to beat Madelyn Murphy. One-on-one with the Eagles’ senior netminder, Biederman stick handled once before backhanding a shot into the net, doubling Colgate’s lead.

A Dominant Final Period

Just 1:22 into the third period, Maxim Tremblay was called for her second tripping of the game, leading to a power play for Colgate. The Raiders controlled the offensive zone draw, and Alexis Petford carried the puck towards the goal line. She passed the puck to Biederman, who then took a shot over the shoulder of Campbell, completing a hat-trick.

A singular hat flung on the ice marked Biederman’s hat-trick, as Colgate extended their lead to three goals, which would hold for the rest of the game.

Post-Game Outlook

Boston College now stands at 9-10-1, with their next game set for Friday against Holy Cross in Worcester. Colgate, on the other hand, improved to 10-10-1, setting up an upcoming matchup against St. Lawrence.
