Texas Wide Receiver Parker Livingstone Announces Transfer to Portal

Texas’ 2025 season came to an end with a Citrus Bowl victory over Michigan earlier this week. Like many other college football teams, the Longhorns are experiencing a wave of player departures as athletes enter the transfer portal. One such player, wide receiver Parker Livingstone, is currently roommates with star quarterback Arch Manning.

On Friday, Livingstone took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce his decision to enter the transfer portal and leave the football program. His message was filled with gratitude and reflection on his time at Texas.

“Never did I think growing up I would have the opportunity to play for Texas. It was a dream come true, and the last 24 months have been the best time of my life. Thank you Coach Sark for taking a chance on me. Thank you Coach Chris Jackson for pouring into me everyday. He is directly responsible for my development over the past 2 years. He is a fantastic coach and even better man. Thank you to my teammates who I went into battle with and who are still some of my best friends will be the rest of my life.”

Livingstone also expressed his appreciation for the young fans who wore his jersey. “Want to thank all the young Longhorn fans I’ve met over the past two years, who wear my jersey as that means more to me than you will ever know. I was that same kid not that long ago; hope I have given them a blueprint that belief in yourself and extreme hard work is a recipe for achieving all of your goals.”

He concluded with a heartfelt acknowledgment of the challenges he faced. “Never in a million years did I think I would be going into the portal looking for a new home. Some things are out of my control. Such is the reality of the ever-changing landscape of college football. Emptied my tank every day for this great university, my teammates & all of the good folks of Texas. Grateful.”

Impact on the Team

Livingstone was a key contributor to the Longhorns’ offense. He recorded 29 receptions for 516 yards and six touchdowns. He was second on the team in touchdown receptions and third overall in touchdowns scored. Additionally, he threw the touchdown pass that Manning caught in their win over Arkansas.

His departure marks a significant loss for the program, but it’s clear that the Texas community has been supportive of his decision. The responses to his post on X were overwhelmingly positive, with fans expressing their well-wishes and appreciation for his contributions.

The 2025 season was a rollercoaster for Texas. The team faced several setbacks, including a Week 1 loss to Ohio State, followed by losses to unranked Florida and eventual SEC champion Georgia. However, they also had moments of triumph, such as wins over ranked Oklahoma and Vanderbilt, defeating rival Texas A&M and ending their undefeated season, and finishing with a bowl win over No. 18 Michigan.

With expectations high for the 2026 season, the Longhorns will need to rebuild and adapt to the changes in their roster. While Livingstone’s departure is a loss, it also presents an opportunity for new players to step up and make their mark.
