High Scoring Games in Local Girls Basketball

In a thrilling display of offensive prowess, several local girls basketball teams showcased their talent in recent games. From dominating first halves to comebacks in the final minutes, these matches were filled with highlights and standout performances.

Xavier Dominates Green Bay East

In a Bay Conference showdown, the Xavier Hawks delivered a powerful performance, scoring 57 points in the first half to secure an impressive 86-12 victory over the Green Bay East Red Devils. The team’s balanced attack was evident as five players reached double figures in scoring. Brynn Krull led the charge with a game-high 19 points, followed closely by Ellie Reed with 16 points, Ciara Simon adding 13, Kayla Standish with 12, and Annika Heimann contributing 10 points.

Green Bay East struggled offensively, with Maya Rodriguez being the top scorer for the Red Devils, tallying six points. The final score reflected the dominance of Xavier, who maintained control throughout the game.

The detailed stats showed that Xavier had strong shooting from beyond the arc, with multiple players hitting three-pointers. Their free throw shooting was also efficient, going 3-for-6 from the line. On the other hand, Green Bay East faced challenges at the free throw line, finishing 0-for-0.

Wrightstown Stages Comeback Against Freedom

In another exciting game, Wrightstown staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Freedom 55-50 in a North Eastern Conference matchup. The Tigers overcame a six-point deficit in the final eight minutes, showcasing their resilience and determination.

Wrightstown’s success came largely from the free throw line, where they went 11-for-14 in the second half. In contrast, Freedom struggled from the line, making only 9-of-23 shots in the final 18 minutes. Ella Verbeten was the key player for Wrightstown, scoring 22 points, including 19 in the second half. She was perfect from the free throw line in the final four minutes, going 6-for-6.

Callie Anderson led the Irish with 13 points, while Teagan Brown added 11 points. Wrightstown’s strong second-half performance allowed them to pull away and secure the win.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Fox Valley Lutheran 85, Menasha 54

APPLETON – Gabe Heiges scored 20 points and Caleb Dahlke had 19 as the Foxes dominated from the start.

Also scoring in double figures for Fox Valley Lutheran was Wyatt Schlueter with 11 points.

The Foxes raced out to a 50-23 halftime advantage and kept the Bluejays at bay the rest of the way.

Leading the way for Menasha was Shamir Senyange with 19 points.

GREEN BAY – The Hawks led by 10 points at halftime and pulled away in the second half for the Bay Conference win.

Kyler Bleck led Xavier with 26 points. Logan Ramczyk added 18 points and Grant Neumann scored 15.

WITTENBERG – Max Vosters scored 18 of his team-leading 24 points in the second half of the Zephyrs’ win over the Chargers.

Dylan Brenn and Mason Uhlenbrauck added 18 and 17 points, respectively, for St. Mary Catholic.

Zandyr Barke led Wittenberg-Birnamwood with 23 points. Oliver Fraaza added 18.

WAUPACA – The Comets scored five goals in the second period to take a commanding lead and then held on for the victory.

Colin Lockwood had four goals and an assist for Waupaca. Nate Hines had a goal and two assists. Finn McGuire and Reed Rogers also scored. Thomas Thiel and Danny Cichy each had two assists for Waupaca.

Waupaca goalie Carson Jameson made 30 saves.

New London Cruises Past Wausau East

New London continued its strong season with a commanding 66-28 victory over Wausau East in a nonconference game. The Bulldogs built a significant lead early on, holding a 40-12 advantage at halftime. Morgan Jones was a key contributor for New London, scoring 13 points, while Savannah Tepoorten added 10 points.

Wausau East’s Olivia Okon was the top scorer for the Red Devils, finishing with 10 points. The Bulldogs’ balanced scoring and strong defense made it difficult for Wausau East to keep up.
