Green Bay Packers’ Offensive Coordinator Explores New Opportunities

Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich is in the running for a new position with the Tennessee Titans under their newly hired head coach, Robert Saleh. This development marks another instance where Stenavich has been allowed to explore career opportunities outside of his current role with the Packers.

This isn’t the first time that Packers head coach Matt LaFleur has given Stenavich the chance to interview for other positions. Last offseason, Stenavich was considered for offensive coordinator roles with the Houston Texans and Seattle Seahawks. The pattern continues as Saleh, like previous coaches such as DeMeco Ryans and Mike Macdonald, is known for his defensive background.

Stenavich currently serves as the non-play-calling offensive coordinator for the Packers. If he were to join the Titans, it would provide him with an opportunity to call plays, which could be a significant step in his coaching career.

“I was very thankful for Matt for letting me do that because he didn’t have to,” Stenavich said last offseason. “Just the opportunity to interview for a head coaching spot, that’s an honor, too, just to have consideration.”

He added, “I learned a lot from all those interviews, from the different organizations, the different things you have to think about, especially to be a head coach, all the organizational structures and things you hadn’t really had to think about. So, it was a very worthwhile experience, and we’ll see if it ever comes up again.”

Potential Replacement for Stenavich

If Stenavich decides to move on or is replaced, the Packers will need to find a suitable replacement. The most likely internal candidates are passing-game coordinator Jason Vrable and quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion. Vrable previously served as an offensive coordinator at the Senior Bowl, while Mannion is currently working as the offensive coordinator at the East-West Shrine Game.

Mannion was also considered for a potential offensive coordinator role with the Miami Dolphins under new head coach Jeff Hafley, but Hafley ultimately chose Bobby Slowik Jr. instead.

LaFleur may also look outside the organization for a new offensive coordinator. However, since the position does not involve play-calling, it might be difficult to attract top-tier candidates. Instead, LaFleur could seek out a younger, energetic coach who can bring fresh ideas to the offense.

Possible Parallel with Past Coaching Roles

There are potential parallels between Stenavich’s situation and that of LaFleur, who once served as a non-play-calling offensive coordinator under Sean McVay with the Los Angeles Rams. After that season, LaFleur interviewed for the head coaching job with the Titans. Although Mike Vrabel was hired, he gave LaFleur the offensive coordinator position, which helped prepare him for his eventual role as head coach of the Packers in 2019.

Saleh and Stenavich have a history as well. Saleh joined the Packers as a coaching advisor last season after being fired by the Jets. He used his defensive expertise to help improve the Packers’ offense.

Packers’ Offensive Performance Over the Years

Stenavich was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2022 after serving as the offensive line coach. His tenure has seen mixed results:

• 2022: The Packers ranked 17th in yards and 14th in points during Aaron Rodgers’ final season.
• 2023: The team improved to 11th in yards and 12th in points during Jordan Love’s first season.
• 2024: Green Bay moved up to fifth in yards and eighth in points as they went from 9-8 to 11-6.
• 2025: The team regressed to 15th in yards and 16th in points, finishing with a 9-7-1 record.

Despite these fluctuations, Love set a career-high passer rating this season. However, the Packers struggled in key areas, including a drop from 15th to 24th in yards per carry and from third to 12th in sack percentage. They also had issues in the red zone late in the season.

On a positive note, the Packers improved from 15th to second in third-down efficiency.

Over four seasons, the Packers have averaged 10th in scoring, ninth in total offense, sixth in yards per play, and fourth in third-down efficiency.

Personal Reflections

Stenavich has spoken about his deep connection to the Packers and the importance of being part of the organization. “Being from Wisconsin, and just being back home,” he said. “It’s one thing you know in coaching, you’re traveling, you’re moving your family around a lot. So, being here is a special thing. Obviously, being a part of the Green Bay Packers is a lifetime opportunity for me. That’s one thing I will never take for granted every single day.”

In addition to Stenavich’s potential move, the Packers have also made changes on the defensive side. Head coach Matt LaFleur has retained his defensive coordinator, though specific details about the hiring process remain unclear.
