This week, the team sent Freddy Peralta, who had one year left on his contract, to the New York Mets in exchange for two top-tier prospects: utility player Jett Williams and right-hander Brandon Sproat. This move echoes a similar strategy the Brewers used a few years ago when they traded ace Corbin Burnes to the Baltimore Orioles for DL Hall and Joey Ortiz. That deal played a crucial role in elevating Peralta to an ace-level performer, as he delivered a solid 3.19 ERA over the next two seasons, making 32 or more starts each year.

Looking back at the state of the Brewers’ starting rotation in 2024, it was far less stable compared to what it is now entering 2026. At that time, the Opening Day rotation behind Peralta included DL Hall, Colin Rea, Joe Ross, and Jakob Junis—none of whom remained with the team or even finished the season in those roles. In contrast, this year’s rotation has more clarity and stability, with players like Brandon Woodruff, Quinn Priester, and Jacob Misiorowski already locked into starting roles. 3. Logan Henderson

Logan Henderson had a strong 2025 season, making five starts and posting a 1.78 ERA. His nine-strikeout debut showcased his potential, but injuries and the return of veteran pitchers kept him from securing a permanent spot. Now that Peralta is no longer with the team, Henderson has a clear opportunity to establish himself. Expected to be fully healthy, he is in contention for a spot in the bullpen. With more chances, he could quickly become a key part of the Brewers’ pitching staff in 2026.

While the group hasn’t yet built a track record of success, it features players with significant upside and talent.
