Samuel Beal, a former NFL player, has become the subject of a missing person’s report from the Kentwood, Michigan Police Department. The report provides detailed information about his disappearance, which occurred after he was last seen in Virginia Beach. Beal was originally selected in the third round of the supplemental draft and played six games for the New York Giants in 2018.

According to the police report, individuals who know Beal stated that he had no ties to Virginia Beach. In fact, they mentioned that he had never even spoken about the city before his last known location was on 25th Street in Virginia Beach, near the Oceanfront. This has raised questions about why he was there in the first place.

Timeline of Events

The report was filed by an ex-girlfriend whose name is not disclosed. She shared that Beal had been living with her and their two children in Michigan since May 2025, just two months before he went missing. On July 12, 2025, Beal was supposed to take her car to work at Amazon. However, she received an alert from an app connected to the car indicating it was in Pennsylvania.

She called Beal, and he claimed the app was incorrect, stating he was still in Michigan. Later, the app showed the car in Virginia Beach. When she called him again, Beal admitted he was in Virginia Beach on July 13 around 5:30 p.m., but he did not explain why he traveled there. He assured her he would return to Michigan, but he never did.

Attempts to Contact Beal

The ex-girlfriend made multiple attempts to contact Beal. Initially, it seemed as though his phone was off or dead. However, weeks later, when she tried calling, a recording indicated the phone was no longer in service. This added to the confusion and concern surrounding his disappearance.

On July 16, a relative living in Newport News picked up the car. Inside, they found a receipt from a nearby store showing that Beal had purchased a bottle of sparkling wine, a travel mug, and a lighter money clip. The receipt was dated July 13 at 5:59 p.m. Additionally, his shoes and socks, along with sand, were found on the passenger side of the car.

Communication with Family

Beal did not maintain consistent contact with his family, but the ex-girlfriend informed them about his disappearance. However, there was a miscommunication between Beal’s mother and his probation officer, which delayed the filing of a missing person’s report.

Beal’s mother spoke with his probation officer on Tuesday, July 15, two days after he was last heard from. The officer mentioned that he had spoken with Beal on Monday. However, Beal’s mother believed the officer meant Monday, July 14, while the officer actually referred to Monday, July 7. This led to three weeks passing before the family was alerted that Beal had missed his August 6 probation meeting.

Filing the Missing Person’s Report

On August 7, Beal’s brother contacted Virginia Beach regarding a missing person’s report, but no report was filed. After two more weeks passed without any action, the ex-girlfriend decided to handle the situation herself and filed a missing person’s report with the Kentwood Police on August 20.

Mental Health and Behavioral Concerns

Investigators questioned the ex-girlfriend and another individual about Beal’s mental health. Much of the information in the report is redacted, but it mentions that Beal began experiencing issues after his NFL career ended. It also states that he started “treatment” and did not take his medication when he was released because he didn’t like the way it made him feel.

The report also notes that Beal made comments such as “if I was gone, nobody would even care.” These statements have raised concerns about his mental state and potential risks associated with his disappearance.
