Jones expressed his pride in Aikman’s accomplishments during an interview on 105.3 The Fan. He highlighted Aikman’s successful career with the Cowboys and acknowledged his current role as a broadcaster. “He’s had a great career, no matter how you count it,” Jones said. “I’ve always appreciated having him on my side, our side. Obviously, he has to have an even hand with his job now as a broadcaster.”

Jones added that Aikman could potentially contribute to any team in various capacities. “Wouldn’t surprise me if he decided to come back and play like [Philip] Rivers,” he said.

Troy Aikman’s Legacy

Aikman was selected as the top overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft by the Cowboys. He went on to win three Super Bowl titles with the team and was named the game’s MVP in Super Bowl XXVII. His contributions to the Cowboys’ success were instrumental, and he remains a beloved figure in the franchise’s history.

After retiring in 2000, Aikman transitioned into broadcasting, starting with FOX in 2001 and later moving to ESPN in 2002. His insights and analysis have made him a valuable asset to the network, and his knowledge of the game continues to resonate with fans.

Philip Rivers’ Final Season

Before this season, Philip Rivers last played in the NFL during the 2020 campaign. He started a game in the Wild Card Round of the AFC postseason, but the team fell short. Rivers was called up to start three games for the Colts following a season-ending injury to Daniel Jones. Unfortunately, he lost each match. Despite the setbacks, Rivers completed 63 percent of his passes for 544 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions.

After his emotional return, the 44-year-old Rivers revealed on the Up and Adams show that he would be retiring once the season concludes. “I am (done),” he declared. “I got a son who will be a senior, and that St. Michael football team is ready to go. We got beat in the semifinals two years in a row.”

Rivers will not be starting or serving as a backup for the Colts in Week 18, marking the end of his professional football career.
