I thought we switched on a few things. We did enough good things to just not let them get into a really good rhythm.”

“I didn’t know that,” Brownell said when asked about the 200th win postgame. “I’m proud of it, obviously. That’s a lot of wins, that’s a lot of good players, a lot of good assistant coaches that have helped along the way. I’m certainly proud of the longevity and the consistency with which our teams have played.”

This achievement highlights Brownell’s long-standing success and dedication to the program, as well as the contributions of his staff and players over the years.

Containing a Key Player

Brandin Cummings, Pittsburgh’s leading scorer this season, struggled against Clemson’s defense. He finished with just 2 points on 1-of-3 shooting, a stark contrast to his average of 13.1 points per game. The Tigers’ defensive strategy focused on sticking to their scouting report, which proved effective in limiting Cummings’ impact.

“Shoutout to the guards, they did a good job,” said Clemson center Nick Davidson. Despite being a key player for the Panthers, Cummings saw minimal playing time, logging just 12 minutes in the game. Ace Buckner Shines on Defense

Redshirt freshman guard Ace Buckner was another standout for the Tigers, particularly on the defensive end. Brownell highlighted Buckner’s ability to fight over ball screens and compete in one-on-one situations.

“Ace is a good on-ball defender,” Brownell said. “He’s one of those guys that does a good job fighting over ball screens and competing. We needed that today. I don’t think he had a turnover. He had four assists, no turnovers. That’s the best thing about the game for him: improving in those decision-making skills. But I thought he played very well and gave us a huge jolt.”

Buckner’s performance exemplifies the depth and talent within the Clemson roster, especially in terms of defensive versatility.
