Despite this, Penn State refused to give up. A 6-0 run sparked by defensive stops forced a timeout from Illinois head coach Brad Underwood, bringing the game back within reach at the U8 mark. After the stoppage, Illinois committed a shot-clock violation, causing a surge of energy from the Penn State fans in attendance.
