The team has been performing exceptionally well throughout the season, with a record of 19-2 through 21 games. This performance places them among the top teams in the country. The Cyclones have consistently remained in the Top 10 of the AP Poll and even reached as high as number two after an undefeated start of 16-0.

In their latest victory over the Colorado Buffaloes, Iowa State started the game strong and never looked back. Although they faced a brief 3-0 deficit early on, the Cyclones launched a 30-1 run that essentially sealed the game in the first half. This was a testament to the team’s overall effort, both offensively and defensively.

“We’re extremely high on that group in general. Obviously, Killyan’s had a remarkable freshman season. He does so much to impact winning, has such great energy and leadership.”

While they don’t often see one-and-done players, they rely heavily on their freshmen to contribute meaningfully to the team. This year, Killyan Toure has stood out as the most notable first-year player. The guard is known for his exceptional defensive skills and has made a significant impact on the court.

Jamarion Batemon has also been making a name for himself off the bench, showing promise as a scorer for the second unit. In the win over Colorado, Dominykas Pleta, a big man, saw extended playing time and performed admirably.

The contributions from these freshmen are crucial not only for the team’s current goals in 2026 but also for the future. With seniors Tamin Lipsey and Joshua Jefferson set to graduate, the Cyclones will be relying on this talented young group to continue growing and leading the team next season.
