Jada Seubert’s Commitment to Iowa Women’s Basketball

After officially committing to the Iowa women’s basketball program on January 17, Jada Seubert, a top-ranked 2027 prospect from Wisconsin, shared her reasons for choosing the Hawkeyes over other prestigious programs. Her decision was influenced by several factors, including her relationship with the coaching staff and the strong sense of community in Iowa City.

When asked about her choice by WJFW, a local NBC affiliate, Seubert emphasized the importance of personal connections. “For me, it’s always been about the relationships,” she said. “When I was narrowing it down and trying to choose, I went on a couple of visits, and the people there were just really my people. I feel like that was a big part of it.”

In an interview with WAOW, another ABC affiliate, Seubert discussed how she sees herself fitting into the Iowa program. “Watching them play, I think I could fit in really well,” she said. “My three levels of scoring would be really good to fit into that, and then obviously transitioning to playing fast.”

By committing early, Seubert is focusing on her development and preparation for the next level. “I think for me, it just helps me focus on what I can work on to help them and so that I can impact right away when I get there,” she explained. “Every aspect. I want to improve my ball handling, my consistency — just everything I possibly can.”

A Rising Star in Wisconsin Basketball

Seubert, a 5-foot-11 combo guard from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, is ranked as a four-star recruit and is the No. 40 overall prospect, No. 4 combo guard, and No. 1 recruit in Wisconsin according to 247Sports. She also ranks as the No. 66 prospect nationally and the top player in Wisconsin per Prep Girls Hoops.

The junior at SPASH (Stevens Point Area Senior High) has made a name for herself with her scoring ability and all-around skills. During her sophomore season, she averaged 21.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 4.3 steals per game. She shot 46% from the floor and 37% from beyond the arc during that season.

A Strong Coaching Background

One of the key factors in Seubert’s development has been her time under the guidance of Janel McCarville, a 2005 WNBA No. 1 overall pick. Over the past three seasons, McCarville has helped shape Seubert into one of the top prospects in the 2027 class.

This summer, Seubert played for Team Prime Nation on the 16U Nike EYBL circuit, where she averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. She shot 52.1% from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range, earning second-team All-EYBL honors.
