The 156-man field has officially been whittled down and now it’s on to the final round at the 2026 American Express. The AmEx uses three golf courses, and now everyone has played each of the three—Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, Jack Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West, and La Quinta Country Club—once.

Sunday, for those who survived the 54-hole, will return for a second time to the Stadium Course for the final round. Below is a look at the highlights and best moments from the 2026 American Express.

The PGA West island green gets Scottie. He hits it into the water and makes double. Oh well. He still has a four-shot lead.

Scottie Reaches 29 Under

Two years ago, Nick Dunlap set the AmEx scoring record at 29 under. Scottie has reached that number (and holds a six-shot lead) with two holes to play. Nine birdies in 16 holes.

Another Birdie for Scheffler

Eight birdies in 14 holes, and he leads by five with four holes to play.

Scheffler Doubles Lead (Again)

Not deja vu, but Scottie throws a dart at No. 12 and makes another birdie. Coupled with Andrew Putnam’s bogey, Scheffler is at 27 under and four shots ahead of the chasers with six holes to play.

Putnam Closes Gap

Andrew Putnam is not going away. His seventh birdie in 11 holes, this one from 25 feet out, moves him to 24 under and one behind Scottie Scheffler.

Scheffler’s Lead is 2 at the Turn

PGA Tour win No. 20 for Scottie Scheffler is in his crosshairs. He leads by two shots at the turn after going out in 4-under 32. Andrew Putnam is the closest chaser at 23 under.

Scottie Scheffler Moves Ahead

The world No. 1 has moved one ahead of the field after hitting his approach on the par-4 seventh inside 2 feet. He reaches 24 under and is one ahead of Andrew Putnam.

Andrew Putnam Joins Lead

Do we have someone trying to play spoiler? Andrew Putnam has birdied three straight and five of his past six holes and is now tie for the lead with Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim.

Trouble for Blades Brown

The 18-year-old falls three shots behind Scottie Scheffler and Si Woo Kim after a double bogey on the par-5 fifth. He hit his tee shot into the water and was unable to salvage a score from there.

Hard to imagine a better shot than this from Scottie on the par-3 fourth. He’s back to one behind Si Woo Kim.

Blades Brown and Si Woo Kim birdie the second hole while Scottie Scheffler makes a bogey. Kim leads at 23 under with Brown a shot behind and Scheffler two back.

That didn’t take long. Scottie Scheffler hits his approach on the first inside 5 feet and buries the birdie, and he has tied Si Woo Kim for the lead.
