Tom Brady’s Unusual Commentary on Klint Kubiak

The Las Vegas Raiders are in the market for a new head coach, and minority owner Tom Brady has been closely watching one of his top candidates. According to ESPN senior reporter Jeremy Fowler, Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak has emerged as a strong contender for the Raiders’ coaching position after a successful first interview. The 38-year-old Kubiak led a Seattle offense that ranked eighth in total yards and third in scoring during the season, helping the team reach the NFC Championship Game against the Los Angeles Rams.

This game was broadcast by Fox, and Brady was on the call as an NFL analyst alongside Kevin Burkhardt. While concerns about potential conflicts of interest have eased, it was amusing to hear Brady use his platform to praise Kubiak throughout the broadcast.

Brady began his commentary with high praise for Kubiak’s play-calling. “I love the opening script by Kubiak,” he said following Seattle’s first drive, which ended in a touchdown. Later in the quarter, he added, “Such a great play call by Klint Kubiak as well.”

He continued to highlight Kubiak’s strategic decisions, noting how the Rams’ defensive line adjusted their approach. “He understands that now, for the first time, the Rams’ D-line is like, let’s be super aggressive and try to make a big stop. Next thing you know, they take advantage of the overaggressiveness and the rush, and they lose coming out of the backfield.”

Brady also praised Kubiak for his formations, saying, “Good design. You saw it with Klint Kubiak putting JSN in the backfield.” After a key Seahawks play in the third quarter, he remarked, “Great throw by Darnold, and great job by Kubiak dialing that up.”

As the game progressed, Brady noted, “Both quarterbacks have played tremendous today. 145 rating for Stafford, 143 rating for Darnold. I love seeing good quarterback play. Really, a lot of great play-calling from both Kubiak and [Sean] McVay.”
