The exchange, captured on video and widely shared on social media, showed the 49er speaking with his wife, Vanessa, and another man, who handed him a stack of what appeared to be one-dollar bills that the receiver briefly tucked inside his helmet before heading back toward the locker room.

The timing of the exchange drew attention, given Bourne’s recent comments about NFL contract incentives and supporting what he jokingly described as his “expensive” household, after a reporter asked for his wife’s phone number last season.

Just a week earlier, Bourne went viral after hitting a $500,000 incentive and telling NBC’s Melissa Stark he was relieved to secure the bonus “because my wife Vanessa is expensive.”

Those incentive benchmarks added another layer to Saturday’s scene. Entering the matchup against Seattle, Bourne needed eight receptions to trigger a $500,000 bonus and 49 receiving yards to unlock an additional $250,000.

Instead, the 49ers’ passing game never found its footing against a dominant Seahawks defense, and Bourne finished without a catch.

For the season, he closed the regular campaign with 37 receptions for 551 yards, averaging 14.9 yards per grab, but without a touchdown.
