According to Florio, the Bills are casting a wide net in their search for a new head coach, but they don’t seem interested in Belichick. The former New England Patriots coach is seen as “radioactive” in the NFL due to several issues during his time at UNC. These include banning Patriots scouts from the facility and having an assistant coach suspended for NCAA violations related to improper benefits.

Despite these concerns, Florio also points out that the Bills have little to lose by interviewing Belichick. If they are willing to consider someone like Philip Rivers, then why not explore the possibility of talking to the Tar Heels’ head coach? This raises questions about the team’s approach to the hiring process.

Bills HC Candidates in the Running

So far, the Bills have interviewed seven potential candidates for the head coaching position: offensive coordinator Joe Brady, former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, former Colts quarterback Philip Rivers, Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver, Washington Commander running backs coach Anthony Lynn, and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski.

Among these candidates, Joe Brady and Brian Daboll appear to be the frontrunners. Brady has been the team’s offensive coordinator since 2023, and his close relationship with star quarterback Josh Allen could be a significant factor in his favor. Daboll, who previously served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021, also has strong ties to the organization and to Allen, who had his best seasons under Daboll’s leadership.

Another name that has recently gained momentum is Davis Webb, the Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach. The Bills reportedly want to interview Webb, but they will wait until after the AFC Championship Game, which features the Broncos playing against the New England Patriots.
