Vanderbilt Stays Unbeaten with Thrilling Victory Over Michigan

Aubrey Galvan delivered a standout performance, scoring 20 points to help the No. 5 Vanderbilt Commodores maintain their perfect record by defeating the No. 8 Michigan Wolverines 72-69 in a tightly contested game at the Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, N.J.

Mikayla Blakes and Justine Pissott each contributed 14 points, while Pissott also recorded team highs of eight rebounds and five assists for the Commodores (19-0). The team’s offensive efficiency was evident, as they assisted on 20 of their 25 made baskets.

Vanderbilt started strong, going on a 10-0 run in the first quarter and maintaining dominance in the second quarter to build a 47-30 halftime lead. However, Michigan fought back, ending the third quarter on a 6-0 run to narrow the gap and using a 10-2 stretch early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 65-63. Aiyana Mitchell’s jumper and Galvan’s 3-pointer helped Vanderbilt regain control, putting them ahead by seven with three minutes remaining. The Commodores held on to secure the victory.

Syla Swords and Kendall Dudley each scored 16 points for Michigan, while Olivia Olson added 14 points and Brooke Q. Daniels grabbed 10 rebounds.

UConn Dominates Notre Dame in Convincing Win

In another impressive showing, No. 1 UConn defeated Notre Dame 85-47 in Storrs, Conn. Sarah Strong led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while the Huskies shot an overwhelming 55.6% from the field.

Azzi Fudd tallied 15 points, KK Arnold added 12, Serah Williams contributed 11 points along with eight rebounds, and Ashlynn Shade scored 10 points to lift UConn (19-0) to victory. The Huskies pulled away with a dominant 27-12 third quarter, outrebounding Notre Dame 39-24 and outscoring them 44-24 in the paint.

Hannah Hidalgo finished with 16 points for Notre Dame (12-6), which fell out of the AP Top 25 poll earlier Monday. Cassandre Prosper added 12 points and seven rebounds. Notre Dame struggled offensively, shooting just 36.5% overall and 1 of 16 from the 3-point arc.

Ohio State Edges TCU in Overtime Thriller

No. 12 Ohio State narrowly defeated No. 9 TCU 71-69 in a thrilling matchup at the Coretta Scott King Classic in Newark, N.J. Chance Gray played a crucial role, scoring 22 points and hitting a key 3-pointer in the final moments to seal the win.

Jaloni Cambridge contributed 18 points, eight assists, and six rebounds for Ohio State (17-2). She and her sister Kennedy Cambridge combined for 12 of the Buckeyes’ final 15 points in a fourth quarter filled with eight ties and three lead changes. Kennedy hit a tiebreaking 3-pointer, and Jaloni added two go-ahead free throws before Gray sank a triple with 16 seconds left to make it 70-66.

Olivia Miles led TCU (18-2) with 24 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. Taylor Bigby scored 14 points, and Clara Silva added 12 points and eight rebounds.

Princeton Extends Winning Streak with Overtime Victory Over Harvard

Princeton extended its winning streak to 14 games with an 82-79 overtime victory over Harvard. Ashley Chea hit a game-tying 3-pointer in the final second of regulation, and Madison St. Rose scored six of her 19 points in overtime to lead the Tigers to the win.

Chea finished with 19 points, while Princeton received 14 points from Olivia Hutcherson, 13 from Skye Belker, and 11 points, nine rebounds, and five steals from Fadima Tall. Karlee White led Harvard (9-8, 2-2) with 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Saniyah Glenn-Bello added 16 points, Abigail Wright 12, and Olivia Jones 11.

Harvard led much of the first half but found itself down 57-50 late in the game. Glenn-Bello’s 3-pointer tied the game with 44 seconds left in regulation, and Katie Krupa hit the go-ahead triple with less than five seconds remaining, setting up the play for Chea to seal the victory.
