President Donald Trump made a notable appearance at the College Football Playoff national championship game in Miami on Monday night, where he was welcomed with enthusiasm by the crowd. Accompanied by his eldest daughter, Ivanka, and granddaughter Kai, Trump received a thunderous reception as he waved during the performance of the Star-Spangled Banner before the game between the Miami Hurricanes and the Indiana Hoosiers.

The game, held at the Hard Rock Stadium, saw Indiana emerge victorious with a score of 27 to 21, securing their first national title in an undefeated season. During the national anthem, Ivanka, dressed in an all-black outfit and sunglasses, placed her hand over her heart while the Trump family stood in honor of the moment.

Kai, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr., had her left arm in a sling. Earlier this month, she revealed on social media that she had undergone surgery to repair wrist injuries. She made her debut in the Ladies Professional Golf Association last November.

In addition to Ivanka and Kai, other members of the Trump family were present at the game. Ivanka’s husband, Jared Kushner, along with their two sons, Joseph Frederick and Theo James, were in attendance. Kai’s mother, Vanessa, was also there, according to reports. Lara Trump, the wife of the president’s second son, Eric, and their children, Carolina and Luke, were reportedly among the spectators as well.

Several high-profile figures were also at the event. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who graduated from the University of Miami School of Law, was seen on the sidelines of the Miami Hurricanes’ field. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and UFC CEO Dana White, a close friend of Trump, were also in attendance.

During an interview with Clay Travis, founder of the anti-woke sports news outlet OutKick, Rubio joked about his potential future role as the head coach of the Miami Dolphins. When asked about his interest in becoming the Dolphins’ head coach, Rubio responded, “When I’m done with this, I’m all ready for it after that. I got a job to do for a couple more years — two or three more years — and then I’ll be ready.”

It is no surprise that Trump received such a warm welcome in Florida, which has been his home since 2019. In the 2024 presidential election, Trump won Florida with 56.1 percent of the vote and Indiana with 58.6 percent.

Before the game, Trump shared a message expressing his congratulations to both the Indiana Hoosiers and the Miami Hurricanes for reaching the College Football Playoff National Championship.
