From the outset, the Broncos showed their determination. They marched down the field on the opening drive, but the game took an early turn when rookie wide receiver Pat Bryant suffered a concussion, marking his second injury in less than a month. In his absence, Lil’Jordan Humphrey filled in, though he dropped a potential touchdown pass. This led to a 28-yard field goal by Wil Lutz, giving Denver a 3-0 lead.

Buffalo responded with a 67-yard drive, culminating in a four-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Josh Allen to Mecole Hardman. The Bills extended their lead before a fumble by running back James Cook was recovered by Broncos safety Talanoa Hufanga at the 31-yard line.

Bo Nix then led a crucial drive, finishing with a seven-yard touchdown pass to backup offensive lineman Frank Crum, who was eligible for the play. On the next drive, Nix threw an interception to Deone Walker, setting up the Bills at Denver’s 36-yard line. P.J. Locke intercepted an Allen pass at the eight-yard line, returning it to the 38-yard line. In addition to Bryant’s injury, fellow receiver Troy Franklin left in the second quarter with a hamstring injury and was ruled out in the third quarter. This left the team with three healthy receivers: Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, and Humphrey. Denver center Alex Forsyth also left with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter and was replaced by Sam Mustiphe.
