Josh Allen, the quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, experienced a deeply emotional moment after the team’s heartbreaking loss in the NFL Playoffs against the Denver Broncos. The defeat came during a grueling game that lasted nearly four hours, and Allen was visibly upset as he addressed the media, taking full responsibility for the team’s failure.

Allen had previously been a key player for the Bills in the Wild Card Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played despite suffering from three different injuries. In the playoff game against Denver, he threw three touchdown passes and accumulated 283 yards, but the team’s five turnovers proved to be the deciding factor in the 33-30 overtime loss.

The emotional breakdown occurred when Allen took the microphone, with tears streaming down his face. He paused to collect himself before speaking about the loss. “I let my teammates down tonight,” he said. “Just missed opportunities throughout the game. It’s been a long season. I hate how it ended, and that’s gonna stick with me for a long time.”

He continued, “Can’t win with 5 turnovers. Fumbled twice, threw two picks, when you shoot yourself in the foot like that you don’t deserve to win football games. Losing in the playoffs is not fun.”

Despite Allen’s self-criticism, Buffalo’s head coach, Sean McDermott, disagreed with his quarterback’s assessment. McDermott insisted that the team had opportunities to win the game despite the turnovers and praised Allen for his dedication and leadership.

“No, it’s not on him. We had opportunities – all of us,” McDermott said. “I’m extremely proud of him. He’s a tremendous person, tremendous leader, tremendous quarterback. Yeah, there’s plays we all want back.”

One of the critical moments that the Bills wish they could replay happened during overtime. Allen launched a deep pass to receiver Brandin Cooks, who initially caught the ball and positioned the team within field goal range. However, Broncos cornerback Ja’Quan McMillian managed to rip the ball away from Cooks, giving Denver possession. The officials debated whether Cooks was down by contact or if the ball had been cleanly stripped, ultimately ruling in favor of the Broncos.

Following the game, McDermott challenged the controversial call. “I don’t have the power to challenge. We are in overtime,” he explained. “It was a rather rapid unfolding of the reviewing, if there was a review. It would seem logical to me that the head official would walk over and take a look at it just to make sure. That’s too big of a play in a play that decided the game to not even slow it down.”

McDermott continued, “It’s hard for me to understand why it was ruled the way it was ruled. I’m saying it because I’m standing up for Buffalo, damn it. These guys spent three hours out there playing football, pouring their guts out. To not even say ‘hey let’s slow this thing down’ – that’s why I’m bothered.”
