Los Angeles Rams Make Key Roster Moves Ahead of Final Regular Season Game

The Los Angeles Rams made several notable roster changes ahead of their final regular-season game of the 2025 campaign, a home matchup against one of their NFC West rivals, the Arizona Cardinals. While head coach Sean McVay hinted at some decisions, the team also executed several other moves to strengthen their lineup for the upcoming contest.

Three significant moves were made by the Rams, all aimed at improving their performance on the field.

Rams Bring Back Tyler Higbee

The Rams announced on January 3 that they had activated tight end Tyler Higbee from reserve. This move was anticipated by McVay earlier in the week and comes just three days after the team designated Higbee to return from injured reserve.

The timing is crucial, as rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson was added to the injury report on Saturday and is listed as doubtful for Sunday due to a hamstring injury. Higbee has been sidelined for the last six games, and his absence has been noticeable on the field.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford expressed his excitement about Higbee’s return, highlighting his impact both as a player and a teammate.

“His energy, the way he cares about his teammates, he’s just an ultimate team player. I’ve loved every minute I’ve had playing football with Higs. He’s a special football player and has made so many great plays that I can’t remember off the top of my head,” Stafford said.

“He’s a human being, too, right? The human being that celebrates for everybody. Has great celebrations himself. He’s great around the building. He’s just an awesome teammate. He’s what you want. Everybody calls him a ‘glue guy.’ Probably an understatement, and he’s an unbelievable player. Great person for our team, and we’re happy to have him back out there, just to be moving around again and feeling like himself. I’m happy for the human being.”

Rams Elevate UDFA Players

In addition to bringing back Higbee, the Rams elevated two undrafted free agents, Jack Heflin and Tanner Ingle, to their game-day roster.

Both players have experience as undrafted free agents. Ingle has played in two games this season, logging the only regular-season action of his career. He has recorded one total tackle, with 28 snaps on special teams and three on defense, according to Pro Football Reference.

Heflin has played in six games during his career, most recently in 2003 with the New Orleans Saints. He has also played for the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants.

Rams Part Ways With Former Titans Defensive Lineman

In their final announced move, the Rams waived defensive end Larrell Murchison, who has been with the team since 2022. Murchison was the No. 174 overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Tennessee Titans. He spent two-plus seasons with the Titans before being waived, at which point the Rams claimed him.

Murchison has appeared in 34 games for the Rams, starting three. He has recorded 30 combined stops and 4.0 sacks during his tenure. He has played in all 16 games this season.

While the Rams have a strong defensive line rotation, this move may affect their depth. The team will now need to rely on other players to fill the gap left by Murchison’s departure.
